FEET are an indie band which provides so much to be excited about right now. Originality is at the forefront of everything they do, and with 5-years since their debut album, this year’s follow-up “Make It Up” can confidently be counted as one of the best albums of the year. With a healthy obsession over the track “Chalet 47” (see below) – the perfect example of the musicality flowing throughout this band, and in particular the delivery and swagger frontman George Haverson brings – this writer was absolutely thrilled to see them added to the lineup for NBHD 2024! And even more so when given the opportunity to speak to the band…
FEET – THE INTERVIEW
THE JOURNALIX: How did you come about naming the band FEET and why?
FEET: The band name comes purely out of spite to a previous member who thought FEET would be a terrible name.
THE J: Fair play. What’s your elevator pitch for someone who asks about your music?
FEET: Low testosterone rock.
THE J: Your first album at the end of 2019 received great reviews, but how did you manage to survive a global pandemic before returning with this year’s follow-up?
FEET: We spent every moment of the lockdown together. The band felt like a healthy outlet for all of us, even when we were at each others throats.
THE J: Is it fair to suggest “Make It Up” reflects a change in who you were back when you released your debut?
FEET: I think ‘Make It Up’ highlights the journey we’ve been on in the past 5 years. A maturity in sound, but also a development in how we define ourselves comes through in the record. I hope…
THE J: Definitely! You provided the perfect soundtrack to a hot summer, was that your intention?
FEET: With a constant rise in global warming, supply and demand is working in full force.
THE J: The album closes with the beautifully melodic Goodbye (So Long, Farewell) – was it written about the experiences of touring in a band?
FEET: Pretty much nail on the head there. The ferry back from Calais always feels like a moment of reflection.
NBHD 2024
THE J: Who else are you looking forward to watching at NBHD 2024?
FEET: We know the Chappaqua Wrestling lot so chances are you’ll see us bobbing along in the shadows of their set.
THE J: Do you know what to expect from this year’s festival?
FEET: I’ve always been a massive fan of the Manchester crowd, always a cracking atmosphere so I’m expecting a buzz.

THE J: With the return of our Manchester heroes, did you get a ticket for Oasis?
FEET: I’ll be chartering a plane to fly back and forth over the stadium, turns out it’ll be a-lot cheaper than buying an actual ticket.
