That Tom Cruise likes to run just a bit, doesn’t he? I’ve taken note of a few instances where he is THE RUNNING MAN. You know the scene; he sets off with that very intense stare, and looks like he’s not going to be able to stop even if he wanted to. Like a man possessed…

THE RUNNING MAN STARRING TOM CRUISE

Let’s start with a quick run through Times Square for Vanilla Sky (2001).

In Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report (2002) everybody runs…

Chased by aliens in War of the Worlds (2005).

Like a grey-haired hound in Collateral (2004).

“If we run, they’d find us…” – Tom Cruise running in The Firm (1993).

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE

It’s a consistent theme for these action packed movies, starting with the first in the series from 1996:

The second film was awful but the third was much-improved. Running from a bridge attack in Mission: Impossible III (2006) opposite the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Escaping the Kremlin in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011).

Catching a plane, as you do, for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015).

The most “Tom Cruise” movie moment ever in Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018)?

RUNNING FOR SURVIVAL

It’s all about survival in Oblivion (2013).

And also The Mummy (2017).

But for Edge of Tomorrow (2014) the mantra is “LIVE | DIE | REPEAT”
