Pulsing, fresh and with a bracing chill of brooding, menace… Sea Fever are back with a synth-heavy return in the form of “technicolour soundscape” Loose Cut! Their first new music in three years – OUT NOW.
Drawing together the collective curiosity and creative energy of each of the band’s five impulsive and spirited musicians, their newest work is one of hard, binary beats and glowing, neon sparks of neat melody…
SEA FEVER – LOOSE CUT
A NEW SIGNING
Simultaneously announcing their signing to emergent Stockport indie label, Cosmic Glue, and coming so soon after playing some of their biggest shows to date, including a 2024-ending finale beneath the railway arches of Manchester’s Gorilla last November, the release of the trippy, Beth Cassidy-fronted synth-pop track comes at a time of purposeful and focused determination for a band knowingly operating with loaded reputation.
Coinciding with the confirmation of a run of warm-up dates ahead of further announcements for 2025, Sea Fever’s distinct identity is further forged by their bold and unburdened ideas.
Vocalist, Cassidy says: “’Loose Cut’ is about a fractious and unpredictable state of mind. It was written as a series of one liners, which seemed to suit the energy of the track. The music has a lot to say and kind of speaks for itself, so I peppered it with just a few of my own thoughts.”

“DIFFERENT… BUT IN A GOOD WAY”
Tom Chapman, co-songwriter and bassist, adds: “It’s a collage of ideas without any rules creating an intriguing dance track. It’s very different for us but in a good way.” While singer and guitarist, Iwan Gronow says: “With ‘Loose Cut’ we wanted to come back with a song that would make the listener forget, even for just a minute. To transport them away from a routine or a daily struggle… Like a fight or flight song in a testing moment.”
“There is a certain chaotic beauty in it that sums up present day,” he continues. “We are bombarded by information and it’s hard to absorb everything and connect properly. For us, it’s been a long road to this release. We’ve had to fight for our music to be out in the open, so there’s a sense of achievement. At times we thought this might not be the case.”
SEA FEVER – SIMPLY UNMISSABLE
Formed of long-standing New Order members, Chapman and Phil Cunningham, alongside Gronow, a former member of cherished 00’s emotive indie band, Haven as well as playing bass with Johnny Marr for over ten years. The band is made complete by Section 25’s Cassidy and drummer, Elliot Barlow, formerly of Brix and The Extricated.
As Loose Cut escapes from Sea Fever’s most recent recording sessions, the single and further new songs, as well as highlights from their 2021 debut album, Folding Lines, are due to join the band’s growing set-list of urgent, dance, electro and indie crossover tracks.
