Music

We’re very passionate about music here at The Journalix. Admittedly, we would listen to any old crap, but we would not recommend any old crap, oh no. We’re here to share all the good stuff. To celebrate the talented musical folk out there. It’s why we exist. It’s why we decided to start a blog in the first place.

Like making a mixtape for a friend, we starting posting playlists on our Twitter feed, and they proved rather popular. As Nick Hornby writes in High Fidelity: “…there’s a lot of erasing and rethinking and starting again. A good compilation tape… is hard to do. You’ve got to kick it off with a corker, to hold the attention and then you’ve got to up it a notch, or cool it a notch, there are loads of rules.” And we apply those rules in our writings here at The Journalix Towers.

We’re from Manchester, which is a place of huge musical heritage and significance when it comes to the history of music in popular culture.

So, on this website you will find features with playlists recommending music we’re sure you’ll have heard before but with a gem of a track from nowhere that you didn’t realise you needed in your life right now. We’re collecting an archive of exclusive interviews with our musical heroes and up-and-coming artists playing Manchester this year. Along with cool soundtracks, gig reviews and plenty more, there’s so much music out there, we’ll do our best to steer you in the direction of the very best stuff!
